• Subject assaults officers, booked into jail (mi-reporter.com) — Recent Mercer Island police reports detail a series of local incidents, including a suicidal subject who allegedly assaulted officers and was booked into King County Jail. Other calls involved major copper cable theft, multiple fraud cases targeting residents, a found AirPod turned in to police, a non-suspicious death of a 93-year-old woman, and recovery of a previously stolen license plate. 
• MIHS marching band will soon hit the streets of London (mi-reporter.com) — Mercer Island High School’s marching band is heading to London to perform in the prestigious New Year’s Day parade, supported by major fundraising from the local boosters. More than 200 Island students will march past iconic landmarks, give additional concerts, and squeeze in sightseeing during their Dec. 27–Jan. 3 trip, capping months of intensive practice and community-backed preparation.
