• Mercer Island church helps the unhoused with sock drive (mi-reporter.com) — Mercer Island’s Congregational Church is rallying the community to donate thousands of pairs of socks for people experiencing homelessness through Seattle’s Operation Nightwatch, founded by late Island resident Bud Palmberg. Led by longtime member Terry Pepple and supported by St. Monica parishioners, the drive has already surpassed 5,000 pairs and more than $5,000 in donations, with hopes of topping 8,000 socks by Christmas.
