Police Blotter: Woman Hits Zaw Pizza Customer, Employee in Parking Lot

A 22-year-old Edmonds woman driving out of the Tabit Square Shopping Center parking lot in reverse hit two pedestrians on May 8 according to Mercer Island Police, causing minor injuries.
The accident occurred in front of at 1:30 p.m. as two vehicles turned off of SE 27th Street into the Tabit Square Shopping Center parking lot exit. The woman — driving a white Mercedes — noticed the "Do Not Enter" sign after they had turned into the parking lot and started to back up without checking her mirrors.
At the same time, an Issaquah woman, her mother and a Zaw Pizza employee helping carry their pizzas walked out of the business toward their vehicle. As they walked behind the stopped Mercedes to reach their car, the driver shifted the car into reverse. The employee noticed the reverse lights illuminate and started to yell a warning but was knocked to the ground, suffering minor injuries to her right arm and ribs. The daughter was also knocked to the ground, injuring her elbow.
EMTs treated both victims on the scene, and the driver was cited for unsafe backing.

Using Crosswalk, Seattle Cyclist Collides With SUV
A Seattle cyclist crashed into a Mazda 323 SUV on North Mercer Way as the vehicle tried to make a right turn from southbound 81st Ave. SE, causing minor damage. The Mercer Island motorist said he stopped at the posted stop sign and both directions of North Mercer Way were clear at 8:39 a.m. before he pulled forward. According to the driver and a witness, a 25-year-old Seattle woman riding a bicycle east on the sidewalk then entered the crosswalk and collided with the side of the vehicle, causing minor damage. The woman complained of "dizziness" and was transported to Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

Ambulance Clips Range Rover Side Mirror on Call
A Mercer Island Fire Department ambulance responding to an emergency and traveling westbound on the 7300 block of 24th Street struck the wing mirror of a Range Rover SUV in the eastbound lane, causing minor paint damage. The ambulance did not stop and continued on its way to the aid call. No injuries were reported.

Wallet Left at QFC Disappears
A 69-year-old resident reported accidentally leaving his wallet at the self-service checkout lane in the at around 4 p.m. The brown leather wallet contained $1,000, driver's license, military ID and two credit cards — which he promptly cancelled.
Police Aid Flipped Canoe on Lake Washington
A boat came to the aid of three boaters in the waters of Lake Washington after their canoe capsized near Meydenbauer Bay at around 3 p.m. The officers provided assistance to an Issaquah couple and their 3-year-old daughter, pulling them from the water and recovering the canoe. No injuries or damage was reported.

East Seattle Home Ransacked
Victims left their home on the 2400 block of 65th Place SE at 10 a.m. only to find on their return at 1:20 p.m. that the house had been broken into and ransacked. The thieves used a bed pillow to carry an iMac computer, a laptop computer and a digital camera from the residence.
Arson at Mercer Island Shell
A gas station attendant at the reported an arson in the women's restroom at 8 p.m. after customer reported a burned-out towel dispenser. The employee suspected two teenagers — approximately 17 years old — were responsible after they had attempted to buy cigarettes an hour earlier but were refused a sale because they didn't have IDs. The suspects immediately left the counter and went into the restroom.
Mistaken Identity Alleged in Bail Bond Bill
A 31-year-old resident of the 3200 block of 80th Avenue SE reported Seattle-based Aladdin Bail Bonds had fraudulently sent a billing and delinquency notice for $115 in repayment for a bond they claimed they posted for his release. The company provided a copy of a driver's license on record for billing, but the resident's height and weight did not match his ID.
Shorewood Heights Office Burglarized
The management office of was reportedly burglarized overnight after employees discovered a window was pried loose and broken. Police determined that no entry had been made and damages were estimated at $400. No alarm was activated and no suspect information was available.
May 15
Scofflaw Sleeping in Car Arrested
Police arrested a 25-year-old Kent man wanted on a drug-related warrant out of Enumclaw at 2:30 a.m. after they found him sleeping in his Toyota Corolla parked at the . He was transported to Issaquah and booked into the jail there pending transfer or release to Enumclaw Municipal Court.
Woman Loses $1,900 in Bank Fraud
A local woman reported $1,900 was stolen from her bank account at at 3:31 p.m. after the bank informed her that an unnamed suspect made the withdrawal from a Citrus Heights, CA bank branch on May 10. The woman claimed the suspect had used her personal information to fraudulently take the money without her permission.
Vandals Strike Lakeridge Portable
Unknown suspects broke three windows of a portable classroom sometime overnight and left a line of silver spray paint on the back wall. A silver paint can top was found on the ground behind the portable where two broken windows and spray paint were found.
