Possible Measles Exposure at Mercerdale Park, QFC
Officials say two siblings, an adult and a child, who were visiting the Seattle area earlier this month have been diagnosed with measles.

King County health officials are warning the public about potential measles exposure at five locations around King County, including Mercerdale Park and the North-End QFC on Mercer Island.
Officials say two siblings, an adult and a child, who were visiting the Seattle area earlier this month have been diagnosed with measles. These two cases are unrelated to another measles case in an individual who was at SeaTac Airport on July 4.
Most people in the Seattle area have been vaccinated against measles, meaning the general risk to the public is low, officials said. But the health department warned those who have not been vaccinated or have weakened immune systems will want to watch for symptoms—such as a fever or unexplained rash—between July 16 and Aug. 6.
Health officials say unvaccinated people who were in the following areas may have been exposed:
- Mercerdale Park, 77th SE & SE 32nd, Mercer Island (July 9, 2013: 6pm-10pm)
- Ken's Market, 7231 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle (July 10, 2013: 11am-2pm)
- Spud Fish and Chips, 9702 NE Juanita Dr, Kirkland (July 10, 2013: 2pm-5pm)
- Quality Food Center (QFC), 211 Parkplace Center, Kirkland (July 10, 2013: 3pm-6pm)
- Quality Food Center (QFC), 7823 SE 28th St., Mercer Island (July 10, 2013: 7pm-10pm and July 15, 2013: 1pm-4pm)
