Puget Sound Energy crews were wrapping up work this week on several electrical grid upgrades meant to reduce power outages on Mercer Island.
A crew at SE 68th St. and Island Crest Way spent July and most of August installing a new electrical utility box with circuit breakers and burying power lines along SE 68th Street.
The new circuits are intended to improve grid reliability for around 200 homes in and around the Tarywood neighborhood.
The area is vulnerable to power outages resulting from tree falls in stormy weather, according to PSE, especially along East Mercer Way where a major power line runs.
