• Pierce County Boosts Affordable Housing Creation, Leveraging New Maureen Howard Fund (theurbanist.org) — Pierce County’s affordable housing push is directly helping Parkland, including a $750,000 loan that preserves 48 affordable mobile home spaces for local elders. The county is using its Maureen Howard Affordable Housing Act sales tax to fund hundreds of new and preserved low-income units countywide, prioritizing vulnerable residents, transit corridors like SR 7, and future projects that could further shape housing options for Parkland-area families and seniors. 
• Driver killed in single-car crash on SR-512 in Parkland, WA (fox13seattle.com) — A 29-year-old driver died Tuesday night after their vehicle hit a jersey barrier, rolled several times, and ejected them on westbound SR-512 at Pacific Avenue in Parkland. The ramp was closed for more than two hours, and state troopers say the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt while they investigate possible drug or alcohol involvement.
• Driver collides with State Patrol car in Pierce County, injuring sergeant (thenewstribune.com) — A Washington State Patrol sergeant was hurt Wednesday morning when a texting driver in a pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and hit his patrol car head-on on Steele Street in Parkland, near 112th Street South and Spanaway Loop Road. The sergeant was trapped but taken to the hospital in stable condition, and the pickup driver was cited for negligent driving after remaining at the scene.
