• New Tri-Cities nonprofit seeks space to provide overnight shelter for homeless population (applevalleynewsnow.com) — A new nonprofit, Tri-City Alliance for the Unhoused, is working to open an overnight shelter that would serve people living outside across Pasco, Kennewick, and Richland. Organizers are searching for a suitable building or property and hope to replicate successful sleep-center models from Walla Walla and Hermiston, while urging local residents and city leaders to support the effort.
   

• Sen. Murray says move to keep Serrano as top federal prosecutor 'sets a dangerous precedent' (thenewstribune.com) — Former Pasco mayor Pete Serrano will remain the top federal prosecutor for Eastern Washington through a Justice Department workaround, despite Sen. Patty Murray’s opposition to his permanent appointment. Murray argues the move skirts Senate confirmation norms and criticizes Serrano’s qualifications and views, while DOJ uses special designations to keep him leading the U.S. Attorney’s Office beyond the usual time limits.
