1 Killed In Early Morning Yakima Avenue Crash

The collision had Tacoma Police warning commuters to find alternate routes.

TACOMA, WA — At least one person has died following a two car crash on Yakima Avenue early Tuesday in Tacoma.

Tacoma police first reported the crash just after 8 a.m. Officers warned drivers the collision had closed Yakima Avenue from S. 86th through S. 88th in both directions, and urged commuters to find alternate routes through the area.

Shortly afterwards, first responders confirmed the accident had turned deadly, as the driver of one of the vehicles had died. That victim, a 64-year-old woman, had driven into oncoming traffic, The News Tribune reported. First responders suspect she had suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
