Western WA evacuation updates: Evacuation orders issued for Stehekin Valley (mynorthwest.com) — Puyallup residents are facing Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders as Puyallup River flooding threatens homes, including the Crossroads at Meridian apartments and parts of downtown. Nearby Orting and South Prairie are also under escalating evacuation levels as officials monitor stressed levees and rising waters ahead of another major storm system expected to hit Western Washington.
   

2. Ready for another election? Lots of school measures on Pierce County ballot soon (thenewstribune.com) — Puyallup voters will see a replacement educational programs and operations levy on the Feb. 10, 2026 special ballot, alongside measures from nine other Pierce County school districts. The proposals would renew or add local school taxes starting in 2027 to fund operations, technology, safety upgrades, and building projects across the region.
   

3. Woman declared dead at Pierce County Jail, Sheriff's Office says (thenewstribune.com) — A Bonney Lake woman who had recently been arrested in Puyallup on fraud-related charges was later found unresponsive and declared dead in the Pierce County Jail’s female intake unit. Detectives are investigating, her cause of death is still undetermined, and mental health staff were brought in to support other inmates.
   

4. Floods devastated WA families. Now they face the cost of recovery (oregonlive.com) — Flooding along Western Washington rivers, including the Puyallup River by Riverview RV Park, has left many residents facing steep repair bills, hotel costs, and confusing insurance rules. The story follows renters, retirees, and small business owners from several river communities as they navigate FEMA aid, flood insurance limits, and tough choices about food, bills, and rebuilding after the water recedes.
   

5. Washington Huskies land top WA football recruit for 2027 (seattletimes.com) — University of Washington football just secured a top 2027 commitment from Sumner High star receiver Braylon Pope, continuing a run of in-state recruiting wins. The story also highlights Puyallup High lineman Gecova Doyal as another elite local prospect drawing serious Husky interest.
