2 Charged In String Of Armed Robberies At Tacoma ATMs: Police

A warrant is out for a third man who police say should be considered armed and dangerous.

TACOMA, WA — Tacoma police have arrested two men wanted in connection with a series of recent armed robberies and are looking for a third, authorities said.

Tofili Malo, 18, was arrested Tuesday at his Tacoma apartment and Devon Mathis, 20, was arrested at home Jan. 10, according to police. Investigators recovered firearms during both arrests, one of which had an illegal modification, police said.

Authorities also have an outstanding warrant for 21-year-old Emmanuel Brown, who is considered armed and dangerous, according to police. Law enforcement is seeking the public’s assistance to find Brown, police said.

The armed robberies started in late December and occurred at walk-up ATMs near 72nd Street and Pacific Avenue as well as at 56th Street and South Tacoma Way, according to police, who said 10 such robberies were reported by community members.

Mathis is charged with 10 counts of first-degree robbery and is being held at Pierce County Jail on $750,000 bail, police said, while Malo faces five counts of the same charge and is jailed on $300,000 bail.
