In addition to Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, food boxes, and toys; holiday donations fund programs for the needy year-round. This includes homeless outreach, senior meals and activities, food boxes, utility assistance, and after school programs for low-income children.
"The need is great for struggling families and individuals, particularly during the holiday season. So, we are counting on the kindness of our community to come on out to a red kettle and donate a $20 bill. It will go a long way to help make Christmas bright for many of our community’s less fortunate." Said Captain Ryan Miller, Corps Officer Puyallup Valley Corps Community Center. The community’s financial support and kindness during the holidays enables The Salvation Army to assist more than 17,000 people in the East Pierce County throughout the year
