An investigation involving the FBI led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man Wednesday who police believe made and detonated explosive devices.
PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Tacoma detectives worked with the FBI on Wednesday to arrest a Tacoma man accused of making and detonating improvised explosive devices. According to the police department, neighbors alerted them of explosions coming from the area of the suspect's Tacoma home, kicking off a joint investigation.
The Tacoma Police Department worked with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and obtained a search warrant for the home after establishing probable cause. At the scene, investigators said they found partially-built explosive devices, explosive precursors and other components, along with several firearms.
The suspect, identified Wednesday only as a 45-year-old man, was booked into jail on suspicion of several charges, including malicious placement of an explosive device and related violations. More details in the case are expected after the man has a first court appearance.
