Bethel High Put In Lockdown After Former Student Arrives With Gun

No shots were fired. The suspect and two other students have been detained.

SPANAWAY, WA — A scare at Bethel High School Friday when a former student arrived on campus bearing a firearm.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the school was placed on lockdown shortly after the suspect arrived sometime around noon. First responders managed to chase him off of school grounds and into the nearby neighborhood, where he was arrested. Two other current Bethel High students have also been arrested in connection with the incident. It is unclear exactly how they were involved.

Following their arrests, the school was placed on modified lockdown. No shots were fired, and no injuries have been reported. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department will continue to investigate the incident.
