Bring Joy This Holiday Season: Volunteer with The Salvation Army!

The holidays can be tough for families and individuals in need. Looking for a way to help and give back? Check out the many opportunities to make a difference in our community today.

Toy & Joy Organizing: During the Christmas season, our Angel Tree toy donation program collects hundreds of toy and clothing donations to support families in need. We need volunteers to help sort these items in preparation for our distribution day, when 300 families come to pick up their toys and clothes. Your assistance will make a significant difference in bringing joy to those in our community!

Toy Sorting Dates: December 9th, 11th, 13th
Toy Sorting Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Distribution Dates: December 16th, 18th
Distribution Time: 9:30 AM-4:00 PM

Giving Tree at South Hill Mall: Join us at the Giving Tree booth in South Hill Mall! Meet and greet shoppers while encouraging them to adopt a child or senior for Christmas. You’ll be accepting gifts on behalf of The Salvation Army and keeping them safe until a representative picks them up. Together, we can make this holiday season brighter for those in need!

Dates: November 22nd - December 22nd
Time: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM (2-4 hour shifts)

Ring the Bell: The easiest way to help from early November through Christmas Eve is to ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles. The Salvation Army relies on money raised in red kettles to serve more than 25 million people in need each year. Every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar collected in your community stays local and supports local Salvation Army programs. Did you know that donating 2 hours of your time generates $80-$100+ per hour. That means 80+ meals or a safe warm home to a family for a month, or providing 3 underprivileged children the opportunity to attend summer camp! Volunteer with your school, sports team, church, music club, with your friends and family today!

Host a Food Drive: This holiday season, we invite you to join us in hosting a food drive to benefit The Salvation Army. It’s easy! All you need to do is have your church, school, workplace, or community group collect non-perishable food items. Once the drive is over, you can either call us for pickup or drop off the items at our location. Your generous contributions will help provide essential meals and support for families in need during Christmas.
