Challenger High School On Lockdown After Drive-By Shooting: Police
The suspects fled and police are searching for their vehicle. The lockdown was lifted Thursday morning.

SPANAWAY, WA — Challenger High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a drive-by shooting occurred within a block of the campus, according to police.
The shooting happened at a home in the 18300 block of A Street South in Spanaway, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department confirmed in a tweet shortly after 9:30 a.m. There were no known injuries and deputies believed the suspects fled the area, so the lockdown was lifted by 9:45 a.m., according to police.
Law enforcement believes a newer silver Hyundai sedan with a broken driver’s side rear window was involved in the shooting, police said. The car is likely stolen, according to police, who advised residents to call 911 if they see the vehicle and not to approach the Hyundai or its occupants.
