ORTING, WA — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Puyallup River near Orting Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters say heavy rainfall means Orting residents can expect to see minor flooding in low lying areas and along the upper reaches, particularly along Orville Road East south of Brooks Road, Neadham Road, and the area surrounding the Tomolla Farm. The high water also means there is a chance the riverbanks will erode or give way, so residents are urged to steer clear.

The flooding is not expected to reach the City of Puyallup, where waters will peak below the action state sometime later this afternoon.
