Interim City Manager Hired Full-Time, At Higher Cost

Puyallup's interim city manager Bill McDonald will continue to run day-to-day operations at City Hall for another year, at a greater cost to the city.

At their Jan. 8 meeting, the Puyallup City Council appointed interim City Manager Bill McDonald to serve as the city’s top executive for a period of approximately one-year.

The council voted 6-1 to extend McDonald's contract to Dec. 31, 2013 and he has been hired as a full-time city employee.

"Bill McDonald has proven himself to be a strong, solid leader who can move the city in the right direction, particularly through the next budget process," said Puyallup Mayor Rick Hansen.
