New Scholarship Available for Puyallup Students with a Passion for Community Involvement

Puyallup students are invited to apply for a $1,000 volunteer award scholarship from AWC Center of Quality Communities.

The City of Puyallup will be nominating one local student to compete for the AWC Center of Quality Communities Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to four Washington State students who have been actively engaged with their community and/or city government. Completed applications are due to the City Clerk’s Office, Puyallup City Hall, no later than 5pm on Friday, March 8, 2013. Application materials and instructions can be found at www.cityofpuyallup.org.

Students competing for the scholarship must:

  • Be a resident of the City of Puyallup
  • Graduate from high school, home school or receive a GED in spring/summer 2013
  • Continue education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2013-2014 academic year on a half-time or more basis
  • Have been involved with a city government or with a community/school leadership activity

The AWC (Association of Washington Cities) Center for Quality Communities promotes municipal leadership development and civic engagement. The Center’s goal is to develop a broad public understanding of the important role of cities and towns in the State of Washington. They believe in educating student leaders who care about their communities.

The scholarship fund is supported by people who are passionate about cultivating Washington’s future local leaders. The Center is a 501(c)(3) organization. Learn more at: http://www.cfqc.org/.
