Pierce County Halloween Fun Kicks Off In October: What To Know

Pierce County parks will be home to a slate of spooky events and family fun over the coming weeks for Halloween.

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — October is right around the corner and Pierce County Parks crews are preparing to start fall off right with Halloween festivities for the whole family.

This year's spooky schedule includes a Zombie-themed fun run and walk in Orting, a haunted drive through Graham's Frontier Park, tombstone cleanups at Old Settlers Cemetary and "Trick or Tree" giveaways planned in Spanaway and Lakewood.

Zombie 5K Fun Run/Walk

  • When: Oct. 15, 2022 (9:30 a.m. - noon)
    • Virtual option: Oct. 14 - 16
  • Where: Foothills Trail (Orting)
  • Price: $30 (ages 13+), $20 (12 and under).
  • Details: Don your costumes and flee the undead this year on Foothills Trail over a USATF-certified 5K course. Pre-race fun includes a Jazzercise warmup, photobooth, lawn games and complimentary snacks and coffee.

Trick-or-Tree Giveaways/Cemetary Cleanup

  • When/Where:
    • Spanaway Park: Oct. 19
    • Old Settlers Cemetery: Oct. 22
  • Details: Help plant trees at Spanaway Park or head down to the Lakewood's Old Settlers Cemetary to clear invasive plants from old tombstones and pick up a free tree.

Haunted Headlights

  • When: Oct. 26 - Oct. 29 (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)
    • Advance tickets will be for sale starting Oct. 1.
  • Where: Frontier Park (Graham)
  • Price: $10/vehicle
  • Details: Ghouls and goblins return for another Haunted Headlights over four days this year at Frontier Park, promising families plenty of eerie lights, dancing zombies and other festive fun.

More seasonal fun continues after Halloween, with the return of the Fantasy Lights Walk to Spanaway Park. Tickets for the November event will be on sale Oct. 1.
