Pierce County Trails Day: Take A Hike With New Friends
The free family-friendly event invites community members across the county to enjoy the reopening of the Foothills Trail July 27.

PUYALLUP, WA — Pierce County Trails Day invites hikers, walkers, and runners of all ages to the Foothills Trail that runs between Puyallup and Orting for a morning of free fun.
Hosted by Pierce County Parks & Recreation, in partnership with ForeverGreen Trails, Pierce County Trails Day goes from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 27.
Outdoor enthusiasts can meetup at either the East Puyallup Trailhead, 13810 80th St. E., or the Main City Park trailhead in Orting, 101 Train St. S.E., to find the Trails Day offerings, which include a variety of booths, activities, and — of course — hitting the trail with likeminded community members.

There will be free giveaways and educational info sessions as well as a special appearance by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department K9 unit.
The event takes place the day following the conclusion of the Foothills Trail project, which saw a 2.8-mile section of the trail's "Model Mile" closed from July 8 through 26 so Pierce County crews could improve safety for both vehicle traffic and trail users.
