Puyallup Calls On Artists To Help Design Signal Cabinet Wraps

The city is looking for artists to help beautify some downtown installations. Here's how to get involved.

PUYALLUP, WA — Have a design you want to share with the world? Well, here's a way to get your art out there, and get compensated for your time.

The City of Puyallup is looking for artists to help design art for four signal cabinets downtown. The results will end up looking something like this:

According to the city, the four wraps will be installed at:

1. The southeast corner of Meridian and the bypass/2nd St NE
2. The southwest corner of Meridian and 15th Ave SW
3. The southeast corner of Meridian and 31st Ave SE
4. Along 5th St SE next to Bradley Lake Park at 31st

The only stipulation is that applicants need to live in the Puyallup School District, and cannot be employed by the City of Puyallup. Winning applicants will be compensated $500 for their design.

In particular, the Puyallup Arts & Culture Commission says it will favor designs that include local themes like:

  • Puyallup’s cultural and agricultural heritages
  • Bee City
  • The Puyallup River
  • Puyallup's historic downtown
  • Student life (school, sports)
  • The Washington State Fair, or Puyallup Farmers Market
