Puyallup Farmers Market To Host Blood Drive Saturday

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday the Blood Mobile will be visiting the Puyallup Farmers Market.

PUYALLUP, WA — If you're looking for a way to give back to the community, an easy one is coming up this weekend.

The Puyallup Farmers Market is expecting a visit from the Blood Mobile this weekend. It'll be accepting blood donations at the Puyallup library parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the mobile can only handle one patient at a time, 15 minutes between appointments, but walk-ups are still accepted.

Organizers say, the pandemic has taken a toll on local blood reserves, so they're county on the community to come help out.

"The COVID crisis decimated local blood supplies because it halted the flow of donations during the peak of the pandemic," market organizers said in a recent Facebook post. "People literally depend on these donations to survive and we all have an opportunity to save them with a quick and easy donation."

Of course, there are plenty of other reasons to visit the Puyallup Farmers Market as well. On top of the regular crop of vendors and amusements, this weekend the market will host the WSU Pierce County Master Gardeners, who will be on hand to offer free advice to any aspiring growers.
