Railroad Rehab Project to Close 2nd Street NE This Weekend

Crews working on the railroad crossing rehabilitation project will close 2nd Street NE in Puyallup from Friday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m.

The BNSF Railway and City of Puyallup railroad crossing rehabilitation project has progressed to its second phase.

As part of this phase, the next crossings restoration and road closure has been scheduled as follows:

  • Closes: Friday, May 10, at 5 p.m.
  • Opens: Monday, May 13, at 8 a.m.

Detour signs will be posted for motorists, and a detour map is available at www.cityofpuyallup.org.

The rehabilitation process will involve removal of the asphalt crossing approaches and replacing them with specialized concrete. This will provide a more durable crossing surface with better access for BNSF track maintenance.
