Puyallup Student Musicians to Perform in Marching Bands Showcase at Sparks Stadium
More than 1,000 Puyallup students will perform in a Marching Band Showcase at Sparks Stadium on April 10.

From the Puyallup School District:
More than 1,000 students from the seven junior high and three comprehensive high school bands will perform for the community on April 10 in a “Marching Bands Showcase” at Sparks Stadium.
The showcase begins at 7 p.m. and is scheduled to last approximately one hour. The stadium is located at 601 Seventh Ave. S.W. in Puyallup.
Each band will march around the track and play a drum cadence and the school’s featured selection in the Daffodil Parade. The parade moves through Puyallup beginning at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
After all 10 bands have circled, they will line up on the field and play three selections: “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Marches of the Armed Forces,” and “Louie Louie.” Superintendent Tim Yeomans will be guest conductor for “Louie Louie.”
This is the third time the district’s junior high and high school bands have gathered to perform for the community at Sparks Stadium. A Marching Band Extravaganza was held in 2009, and a Marching Band Spectacular was held in 2010.
This year’s event offers the public a chance to hear all 10 district bands perform their entire parade marching selection and cadence, said Eric Ryan, Puyallup High School band director and event organizer. “Often in parades, you only hear a short portion of their performance because they are marching by,” he said.
The event also provides students a chance to hear the different schools perform, he said.
