Steven Powell Dead, Was Father-In-Law Of Susan Powell

Steven Powell died at a hospital in Tacoma Monday. He was recently served time on child porn and voyeurism charges.

TACOMA, WA - Steven Powell, who was recently released from jail after serving time for possession of child porn, died early Monday morning at a hospital in Tacoma, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office. He was the father of Josh Powell, husband of Susan Powell and the main suspect in her 2009 disappearance.

Steven Powell, formerly of Puyallup, was convicted in 2015 of possessing explicit photos of his 8 and 10-year-old neighbors. He also served 30 months in 2012 for voyeurism. He was also entwined in the disappearance of Susan Powell in several ways.

During an investigation of Susan Powell's disappearance, investigators uncovered evidence Steven Powell's family might have helped hide the body. Police also discovered that Steven Powell had secretly recorded Susan Powell.

Josh Powell was the main suspect in the disappearance, but in 2012 he killed himself and his sons Braden, 5, and Charlie, 7, in a house fire in Graham. No trace of Susan Powell has ever been found.
