Suspected DUI Driver Plows Through Construction Safety Barriers

The Puyallup Police Department says the driver later blew a .200, nearly three times the legal limit.

PUYALLUP, WA — A driver has been arrested and accused of driving under the influence after causing a crash at a Puyallup construction site Monday.

According to a post by the Puyallup Police Department, the driver plowed through construction zone safety barriers but ended up stuck when their car fell into a trench in the pavement.

Officers say three construction workers had been in the trench just before the crash, but managed to escape just seconds before the car fell in. No injuries have been reported.

While investigating the scene, officers say they gave the driver a breathalyzer test. The driver reportedly blew over .200, more than double the legal limit.
