Volunteers Sought To Help Clean Puyallup's Meridian Habitat Park

This weekend, volunteers will be helping to root out invasive species at Meridian Habitat Park. Here's how to get involved.

PUYALLUP, WA — Want to give back to your community this weekend? Here's one opportunity.

Pierce County is seeking volunteers to help out this Saturday as they clear out Meridian Habitat Park. The cleanup will run from 10 a.m. to noon, during which volunteers will help the city remove some invasive species that have started to take hold in the area.

Anyone interested in helping out can register by visiting Pierce County's website, but they'll have to do it quickly — registration closes at noon on Friday. Volunteers will also be required to bring their own work gloves and snacks.

If you can't make it this weekend there are other ways to help out. Saturday's event is part of the county's "Pitch in for Parks" program, a long-running program that gathers volunteers to help clean up parks all over Pierce County. It's next event will be August 21 at Lakewood's Seeley Lake Park.
