Watch: Puyallup Street De-Icing in Action

Ever wonder how city crews thaw out Puyallup's icy streets during a snowstorm? Learn more in this PC-TV video, featuring the local Street Division crew.

The slopes and hills of Puyallup can be treacherous in winter months, but the city Street Division works hard to keep things moving safely on local roadways. 

Crews often pre-treat the roadway with anti- and de-icing chemicals to prevent snow and ice from accumulating and sticking to the pavement.

With over 200 miles under their supervision, Puyallup crews have the following tools at their disposal:

  • 4 Plow/Sander vehicles
  • 3 Salt Brine vehicles
  • 2 Road graders

If compact snow or black ice form, the street crews apply pre-wet sand or salt to help make plowing more effective.
