WSDOT Explains Tacoma To Puyallup Trail With Online Open House

The Tacoma to Puyallup (T2P) Regional Trail aims to connect downtown Puyallup to Fife and downtown Tacoma.

TACOMA, WA — The Washington State Department of Transportation is inviting residents of Tacoma, Puyallup and Fife to learn more about the Tacoma to Puyallup (T2P) Regional Trail with an online open house.

The T2P trail aims to connect downtown Puyallup to Fife and downtown Tacoma, giving Pierce County residents a new way to travel between cities without relying on a motorized vehicle.

As the open house explains, the trail will run for about 8 miles along the future SR 167 roadway from Puyallup to Fife. That portion of the trail should be fairly wooded, and WSDOT says the path with have a 12 foot width and a more "rural feel" perfect for those who want to take in a little nature during their travels.

The second leg of the trail runs four miles from Fife into downtown Tacoma, and has a more urban design. It will likely run astride the Thea Foss Esplanade in downtown Tacoma.

As shown in the map above, the exact layout of the trail is still under consideration, so WSDOT is asking for public comment on the T2P trail proposals through July 12.
