Redmond Police Blotter: Overheard Conversation Leads to 'Bomb' Scare

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

A misheard comment led Redmond Police to respond to what officers thought might be a bomb scare at a Grass Lawn apartment complex on Wednesday evening.

Jim Bove, spokesman for the , said a maintenance worker was responding to a utility problem when he heard someone in a neighboring unit say he or she had a "gun and bomb."

“But it was actually a gun and a bong,” Bove said.

Officers responded with a K9 unit at about 7:45 p.m. and set up a perimeter around the building, located in the 6200 block of 137th Place NE, to secure the scene, Bove said. A 23-year-old Redmond man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing after he allegedly walked through the perimeter to get a vehicle and help his friends flee the scene.

Two of the people in the apartment were not allowed to possess firearms because of previous convictions, Bove said. Their information was forwarded on to the department of corrections.
