Clear, Warm Weekend On The Way: Washington Weather Forecast
Smoke from wildfires is causing problems up north, but the Puget Sound region should be in the clear for now. Here's what to expect.

SEATTLE — There's almost nothing better than wrapping up a work week and knowing that a nice, summery weekend awaits. If you feel the same way: congratulations, because a pleasant sunny weekend is exactly what's on the docket for Puget Sound.

Despite some earlier concerns that smoke from wildfires burning in California and Oregon might steal our sunshine, the winds of fortune are blowing across Puget Sound. Specifically, they are blowing west and dragging all the smoke away from our area.

As a result, forecasters are predicting sunny, clear skies Saturday with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Expect slightly cooler temperatures along the coast, with the warmest temperatures hitting the mid-80s near the Cascades. Areas that are susceptible to low-lying fog can expect a little Saturday morning, but it and any morning clouds should burn away as the day progresses.

After that, the NWS says to expect a warm, pleasantly summery work week ahead.

The week should remain smoke-free as well, as westerly winds bring in clean air and push the wildfire smoke east.
