Jeff Bezos At Top Of Forbes' Billionaires List For 2018
The Amazon CEO is the first billionaire on the list with a 12-figure fortune.

Jeff Bezos is at the top of Forbes’ billionaires list for 2018, dethroning fellow Seattle-area billionaire Bill Gates, who has lost the top spot for only the sixth time since 1995.
The 2018 list has 2,208 members from 72 countries. With 585 Americans, the United States has the most number of billionaires on Forbes' list, followed by China with 373 billionaires. The U.S. also had 18 first-time billionaires featured on the 2018 list.
According to Forbes, Bezos is the first centi-billionaire at the top of the list, meaning he has a fortune of over a $100 billion. Bezos’ fortune jumped more than $39 billion from 2017, which Forbes says is the biggest one year gain on the list. The Amazon CEO is also the only person to ever appear on the list with a 12-figure fortune.

Forbes explains just how much wealth these billionaires have, being worth a combined $9.1 trillion. The top 20 people on the list alone are worth $1.2 trillion, 13 percent of the total fortune of all billionaires worldwide.
The billionaires on the 2018 list hail from 72 countries. While Hungary and Zimbabwe had their first ever billionaires featured on the list, Forbes said Saudi Arabia was not represented amid reports of asset seizures by the crown prince.

According to Forbes, 16 percent of billionaires on the list had fortunes that fell, including President Donald Trump. The president's fortune fell $400 million since March 2017 to $3.1 billion and he is ranked 766 in the world, according to Forbes.

- Mark Zuckerberg, 33, worth $71 billion, source of wealth: Facebook
- Amancio Ortega, 81, worth $70 billion, source of wealth: Zara
- Carlos Slim Helu, 78, worth $67.1 billion, source of wealth: telecom
- Charles Koch, 82, worth $60 billion, source of wealth: Koch Industries
- David Koch, 77, worth $60 billion, source of wealth: Koch Industries
- Larry Ellison, 73, worth $58.5 billion, source of wealth: software
