Rally Against Gorsuch Nomination Saturday In Seattle
Residents will rally to call on Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to oppose Trump's pick for Supreme Court.

From Naral Pro Choice Washington: On Saturday, April 1, two days before the Senate Judiciary Committee votes on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch, Seattle residents will rally to call on US Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to stand strong in opposition to President Trump’s dangerous agenda, including his pick for the Supreme Court.
Tiffany Hankins, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, said: "Judge Gorsuch has spent his confirmation hearings dodging tough questions about women's right to make their own reproductive health care choices, but we've looked at his judicial record and we know the truth: Neil Gorsuch opposes abortion rights and access to birth control1, and will work to overturn decades of progress on reproductive rights if the Senate confirms him to this lifetime appointment. Judge Gorsuch has made it clear that he does not respect women's right to make our own reproductive health care decisions. This Saturday, we're calling on Sens. Murray and Cantwell to stand with women and oppose the nomination of Judge Gorsuch and the rest of Trump's extremist agenda."
"Neil Gorsuch is so out of touch that the current Supreme Sourt recently voted unanimously to overturn a decision he wrote pertaining to students with disabilities; he argued that a school must provide education that is merely “more than de minimus,” or, in plain English, so meaningless it can’t really be called education," said Karen Strickland, President of the American Federation of Teachers Washington, AFL-CIO. "His performance as a judge merits an F, and that’s not good enough to be on our Supreme Court!"

Collin Jergens, communications director for Fuse Washington, said, "Seattle is leading the nation in finding innovative ways to break the grip of Big Money on our political system. We need our Supreme Court justices to stand up for the rights and voices of ordinary people, not just corporations and the wealthy."Saturday's event, organized by the People’s Defense campaign, will feature Seattleites speaking out about why they object to President Trump’s radical, out-of-touch agenda, his support for overturning Roe v. Wade, his unconstitutional travel ban, and his selection of Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court.
Over the last month, the People’s Defense has delivered one million petition signatures to all 100 senators urging them to oppose Gorsuch. The nationwide campaign, organized by NARAL Pro-Choice America, includes Indivisible, American Federation of Teachers, Center for American Progress Action Fund, CREDO Action, Emily's List, End Citizens United, EveryVoice, MoveOn.org Civic Action, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Service Employees International Union, and Stand Up America.
