Seahawks' Pete Carroll Might Retire: Report

Pete Carroll could step down after leading the Seattle team for seven years.

SEATTLE, WA -- Pete Carroll could step down after leading the Seattle Seahawks for seven years. Fox Sports reporter Jay Glazer first reported the news this weekend.

Glazer said 66-year-old, who led the team to its first Superbowl win, could step down at the end of the season.

"The move would of course thrust the Seahawks into an impromptu coaching search and at this time, it's unclear what type of coach they'd bring in, as (Russell) Wilson enters the next stage of his career," 247 Sports reported.

Other big changes could happen for the Seattle team, insiders said.

"Rumors also abound that the front office has a plan in place to retool the roster by moving on from their big-name, highly-paid defensive stars. Names like Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett have all been floated as possible trade or release candidates," 247 Sports reported.
