Seattle Residents Jolted By New Sugar Tax
Seattle residents are taking it to social media to share their shock over the new sugar tax.

SEATTLE, WA -- Seattle shoppers took it to social media last week to express their shock over the new soda tax. The tax, which went into effect in the new year, adds 1.75 cents per ounce to the price of any drink with added sugar, with some exceptions.
Revenue generated by the tax will go to fund a variety of city programs from reducing the education achievement gap to promoting nutrition. Seattle estimates the tax will bring in about $15 million in 2018, and about 20 percent of that will go toward administering the tax.
Well, that $15 million might be easily generated, according to some Twitter users. Here's what some Seattle residents said on social media when they hit the stores to pick up sugary drinks last week.
