Seattle Storm Parade Draws Thousands, Sue Bird Vows: I'll Be Back

As thousands gathered to celebrate the Storm's third championship, Sue Bird told them that she will be back for a 17th season next year.

SEATTLE, WA – Seattle loves Sue Bird. On Sunday, she made sure that the city knows the feeling is mutual.

"I'll be back," Bird told the thousands who showed up Sunday to celebrate her and the Seattle Storm and their third WNBA championship.

"It feels really good to bring a championship back to the city," Bird said. Next season will be the 17th for Bird who has spent her entire career.

She praised her teammates – one of whom, Breanna Stewart, was named league – calling them a really "fun group to play with. They made it so easy."

Bird and the teams rode trolley cars through Seattle for the parade, which started at the Seattle Center and ended at KeyArena.

At the rally, Mayor Jenny Durkan announced that the street outside the arena will be renamed "Seattle Storm Way."

Durkan mentioned that whil emany had asked for a statute of Bird to go up, since Bird is still playing it might be premature.
