Officers arrested a 31-year-old man in Belltown on Tuesday after he struck a woman with a baseball bat in an apparently random attack in the neighborhood.

Police were called to the 200 block of Cedar Street at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st after a woman was struck from behind while walking home. Witnesses reported seeing a man with a baseball bat fleeing the scene.

Police were able to obtain images of the suspect and an officer recognized the man from a previous encounter. Officers arrested the man at his Belltown apartment on Tuesday and recovered evidence before booking him into the King County Jail for assault.
