City Council passes final Comprehensive Plan legislation (seattle.gov) — Seattle’s City Council has approved final legislation for the updated Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year roadmap that will guide where housing, jobs, transit, and parks are located across the city. The package advances policies for more diverse and affordable housing, childcare, green space, and tree protection, with a second phase of zoning changes coming in 2026 that could reshape specific neighborhoods and transit corridors.
   

2. WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Another garage burglary – this time, a business (westseattleblog.com) — Police are investigating an early Sunday morning garage break-in at the Jiffy Lube in The Junction, where suspects shattered a window, cut a lock, and reportedly took a cash drawer before fleeing east on Alaska Street. Officers hope to obtain security video and are asking anyone with information about the West Seattle burglary to reference SPD case #2025-365336.
   

3. King County Sheriffs use drone to delivery a life vest during historic floods (dronedj.com) — Historic flooding in Seattle and across King County has forced major rescue efforts, including help from the Washington National Guard and US Coast Guard. In one dramatic incident, a King County Sheriff’s deputy used a drone to drop a life vest to a man stranded on his car before a helicopter completed the rescue, highlighting how local agencies are adapting technology during this emergency.
   

4. Planning with Purpose: A Values-based Financial Workshop for 2026 (napost.com) — Seattle residents connected to the Japanese community are invited to a free 2026 “Planning with Purpose” financial workshop, promoted through the Seattle Japanese Community Calendar. Led by wealth advisor Bo Lee, the session focuses on aligning your personal values with practical financial, estate, tax, and charitable planning for the year ahead, offering concrete tools to organize documents and make more confident money decisions.
   

5. Seattle Men's Chorus To Hold 2026 Auditions (broadwayworld.com) — Seattle singers have a chance to join Seattle Men’s Chorus, with auditions set for January 3 and 10 ahead of the 2026 season. New members will perform in spring’s WICKED WIZ OF OZ and the Pride Month SING ALONG, SEATTLE! concert, plus other large-scale productions that rehearse Monday evenings and select Saturdays.
