Sunnier, Warmer Weekend Inbound After Dreary Workweek: WA WX
Western Washington can expect a nice little treat the next few days, a reward for pushing through the recent gray skies.
SEATTLE — Sunny days are on the way, and just in time for the weekend.
According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, Western Washington can expect a change this weekend as the cloudy, dreary skies that have hovered over Puget Sound the last few days are pushed out by an incoming upper trough. That trough will push inland Saturday, causing the weekend weather to be both warmer and sunnier as high pressure builds over the region.
It should be a nice break compared to Thursday and Friday, which saw the Sound blanketed in brooding clouds and scattered showers.

Took a little trip up to the roof for some fresh air and a rain measurement. 0.03" at the office. But what was more noticeable was how refreshing the light mist felt. How is where you are? #wawx pic.twitter.com/BzR8ZwFenY

High temperatures Saturday should be in the low to mid-70s, a welcome surprise after a week stuck in the 60s. Sunday will be even warmer as the heating trough builds, with highs firmly in the mid 70s in the interior.
Sure feels fall-like out there, with lunchtime temps only in the low 60s. If you’re missing summer, it returns in glorious fashion this weekend. Highs in the 70s and both days!

Skies, meanwhile, should be perfectly picturesque: not only will the clouds clear out Saturday and stay out through the weekend, but the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency and other smoke advisory groups say there's no chance for smoke in the foreseeable future, just clear blue skies.

Unfortunately, every party has to end sometime, and it might as well end with the return of the work week. Monday will mark the appearance of a new upper level trough that should cool off temperatures through Thursday. During that time, forecasters say to expect cloudy skies and scattered showers in the morning, but there is potential for some sunny afternoons as well.
