Looking for ghosts in Washington? Horror aficionados may have to get their fix of the heebie-jeebies elsewhere.

WASHINGTON — With Halloween just a few days away, trick-or-treating won't be the only thing on the minds of some Washington residents. For those who are drawn to things that go bump in the night, All Hallows' Eve offers the perfect time to hunt for ghosts in old cemeteries and haunted houses.

The only problem is for those looking for a ghoulish adventure in The Evergreen State, you may want to take your exploration elsewhere. Washington is among the least haunted states in the country, according to a new report by moveBuddha.com.

The company recently determined which states have the highest potential for spooky and spine-chilling encounters. Washington ranked near the bottom of the list with only eights states and our nation's capital scoring worse.

To come up with its rankings, the company looked at factors like the number of ghost sightings, abandoned buildings, ghost towns and unsolved murders in each state and Washington, D.C. A rank of No. 1 is most haunted, 51 is least.
