Wind Speeds During Saturday Storm Exceed 40 MPH

Strong winds battered Puget Sound Saturday. Here's how hard the wind blew near you.

SEATTLE, WA -- A strong windstorm with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour Western Washington tSaturday. The National Weather Service said Saturday the region should also expect scattered showers throughout the weekend.

By Saturday afternoon, wind gusts of up to 31 miles per hour were felt at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, while Renton saw gusts up to 28 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Other areas such as Bellingham saw gusts up to 20 miles per hour and Olympia saw 25 miles per hour winds.

The National Weather Service estimated that the winds will continue to stay strong as it moves through the region.

Residents can also expect to see rain throughout the weekend and into Monday. The rain will be especially heavy on Sunday night into early Monday.
