• Bellingham bicyclist dies after crash in September (whatcom-news.com) — A Bellingham bicyclist has died from injuries suffered in a September 21 car-versus-bike crash on North Cascades Highway (SR 20) in Sedro-Woolley, according to a newly released State Patrol memo. Troopers say a local driver turning from Sterling Road struck the cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, and the cause remains under investigation.
   

• Flash flood watch active for Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish counties (tri-cityherald.com) — Residents near the Skagit River below Sedro-Woolley should be alert: the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch through 4 a.m. Saturday due to possible dike or levee failure that could flood streets, homes, and farmland. The alert covers lowlands of western Skagit County, and officials urge people to monitor warnings, be ready to evacuate, and follow key safety tips for flooding and wet-weather driving.
