• Executive director to leave Sequim Food Bank (peninsuladailynews.com) — Sequim Food Bank’s longtime executive director Andra Smith will step down Feb. 24 to lead the statewide Washington Food Coalition, but she plans to keep living in Sequim and supporting the food bank. The board has already posted the executive director opening and says all current programs, including the Mobile Food Pantry and regular distribution hours on Alder Street, will continue without interruption.
   

• Sequim schools approve contracts (peninsuladailynews.com) — Sequim school leaders have approved key contracts to move forward on the voter-backed $146 million construction bond, including rebuilding Helen Haller Elementary and major renovations at Sequim High School plus a new CTE Ramponi Center. Design, geotechnical, and surveying work are now underway, with construction stretching into 2029 and changes that will affect campuses, traffic patterns, and program space across the district.
   

• Another shoe has washed up in Washington but this time it seems to have been worn by a bear (boingboing.net) — A mysterious white Puma sneaker that washed up on Port Williams Beach in Sequim turned out not to contain a human foot after all, but remains from a bear. Clallam County authorities say testing by the King County Medical Examiner confirmed only bear tissue and bone, and no other related items have been found along the Sequim shoreline.
