Memorial Service Sunday for Bryon Monge, Man Who Died in I-5 Accident Last Saturday

A memorial service for Bryon Monge, the 30-year-old Everett father who died last Saturday when his truck left I-5 in Shoreline and crashed, is Sunday at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Snohomish. 

The church is located at 2727 Lake Avenue, (formerly 99th Ave SE), Snohomish, WA 98290.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and Washington State Patrol says it may be some time before the case is closed. 

According to Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Julie Judson, investigators are awaiting the results of the autopsy before they can determine why the pickup left the road.

"Troopers are still investigating it but we are pretty sure he fell asleep," said his cousin Daniel Monge.

Monge died after his Chevrolet S10 left the roadway of northbound Interstate 5 to the right and struck a pillar at the Northeast 185th Avenue overpass just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to an eyewitness and the Washington State Patrol.

The crash blocked the two right lanes of the freeway for several hours. Monge was the sole occupant of the pickup.

Judson said that there is no evidence at this point that indicates drugs, alcohol or a health-related incident, and that the autopsy can rule those causes out.
