Pro-Gay Marriage Signs Being Distributed Locally
LFP mom picked up sign at Lake City Farmers Market; Ref. 74 supporters hope signs aren't taken and thrown away by opponents like what happened in California in 2008

At Third Place Commons on Thursday afteroon, Lucy Litteral was displaying a green sign that said: "Approve 74, The Freedom to Marry. For All Couples."
Litteral and her school-age daughter were taking a break by Honey Bear Bakery after spending time at the Lake City Farmers Market.
Litteral bought the sign from the group Washington United for Marriage for a $5 donation at the market. The pro-Referendum 74 group is selling the signs and asking for the addresses of supporters who buy them because of what happened in California in 2008. That year, supporters of Proposition 8, which declared marriage to be only between a man and a woman and outlawed the practice of gay marriage, acquired signs for free from No on Prop. 8 groups and threw them away after pretending Β to be supporters.

Although Prop. 8 passed in California, by a 52-47 percent vote, it was later declared unconsititutional.
Many families, like the Litterals, who are not gay but support gay rights hope that doesn't happen in Washington.Β
