Salomon Extends Lead to 77 Votes; May Avoid Recount

In the tight race for Shoreline City Council Position 6, Jesse Salomon now leads Robin McClelland by 77 votes, and may win outright if the trend continues.

Salomon's lead is 0.52 percent which is more than the 0.5 percent difference that would trigger a machine recount.

He trailed by more than five percentage points on election night but subsequent returns have put the public defender ahead of the former planning commissioner McClelland.

Jesse Salomon's lead over Robin McClelland increased to 49 votes Thursday afternoon as the Ridgecrest attorney reached 50 percent of the total cast in the Shoreline City Council Position 6 race.

Salomon has made a strong showing in the late returns after trailing McClelland by hundreds of votes on election night. 

Still, the race might require a machine recount or possibly a hand recount. The 49-vote difference as of today would only require a machine recount with a 0.34 percent difference between the two candidates. A machine recount is required if the difference is less than 0.5 percent of the total votes cast for both candidates. A hand recount would be required for less than 0.25 percent difference.
