Shoreline's Forgotten Felines Shelter Hosts Weekly βKitten Showersβ
Aurora Village Petco to host events on Saturdays throughout July and August
Editor's note: Petco is in Shoreline not Edmonds.
Forgotten Felines of Shoreline will hold a series of βkitten showersβ at the Aurora Village Petco in Edmonds on Saturdays throughout July and August, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The shelter has planned the whimsical kitten showers, held in a tent outside the store, to be similar to a human baby shower. Approximately 20 kittens will be available for adoption each week. Throughout βkitten seasonβ, the charity takes in dozens of mother cats with kittens, putting a tremendous strain on shelter resources and foster homes. The season typically runs from May to November, with most litters born in early spring or midsummer.Β
βWe just took in 10 kittens from the Grays Harbor municipal shelter, which is a high-kill shelter, and the pound in Omak is waiting to send more over,β explained Leslie Treanor, president of Forgotten Felines.

The group plans to have a cage-free setting at the events, providing two-legged visitors the opportunity for interaction with the kittens. For the first time, the shelter is offering families the opportunity to call or email ahead to get pre-approved for adoption before the event.
βWe bring beds, toys and a climbing tower for the kittens, so it's really fun,β Treanor said. βI don't like cages and this is a more relaxed thing. It is a great opportunity to meet the kittens and make a difference in their lives by donating a gift from the kitten wish list.β
