Shorerest Baseball Shuts Out Glacier Peak
Pitcher Ted Hammond tosses third consecutive shutout

Shorecrest shut out Glacier Peak, 4-0 Tuesday, behind the pitching of Ted Hammond who struck out 11 and walked only two for a complete game.
It was Hammond's third consecutive shut out for the Scots.Β
"Ted is in the best groove that I've seen from any pitcher who's come through our program," coach Alan Bruns said. "He's working ahead, limiting walks, and throwing three pitches for strikes. Β When you do that, you're going to win at any level. Β On top of that he's throwing with great velocity. Β We've seen him really develop into a complete pitcher this season. Β I'm glad we don't have to face him."

"Hayden is having a tremendous year at the plate and a major reason for our success so far this season," Bruns said. "He's the team leader in batting average, just over .400, as well as in RBI's, slugging percent, and on-base percent. Β After a challenging sophomore season he's really worked hard to perform at a high level everyday. Β It's great to watch a kid persevere like Hayden and then enjoy the positive results on the field."
Bruns is optimistic for the rest of the season although the Scots face some tough teams in coming week.

"With seven games to go in league play we really like where we're at, but the road ahead will be tough with today's second game against Glacier Peak, and next week's games against Mountlake Terrace," he said. Β "I think we've built up a good deal of confidence that will help us down the stretch in crunch time. Β In this past week we've put together three straight games of terrific defense and pitching. Β The staff hasn't given up a run over that stretch, and our pitchers have only allowed four earned runs in the past 42 innings. Β The key is for us to keep working hard to get better every single day."
