VIDEO: Snow Post-Mortem: Shoreline Public Works Crews Performed Well

Working around the clock for about a week crews put in 2,000 labor hours

The efforts of the Shoreline city crews plowing the streets during the snow event of last week were much appreciated by Shoreline residents and city staff.

Mayor Keith McGlashan said many people came into the Starbucks he works at in Richmond Beach to say thanks to him for well-plowed streets, although he said he gave the credit to the public works crews and director Mark Relph.

"We’re delighted that we were able to serve them and please them," City Manager Julie Underwood, said at the Jan. 23 Council meeting.

The city's snow removal brigade included seven trucks: two plow trucks, four plow trucks with sanders, and one deicer.

Last week, the staff members applied 11,300 gallons of deicer and 320 yards or road salt.

The city used a mobile mechanic from Jack's Repair to stay on duty to help maintain equipment and prevent much down time.Β
