Spring Sports Playoffs Update: Shorewood Boys Begin State 3A Soccer Play May 16

Girls tennis and golf players still alive as well as Shorecrest softball

Boys Soccer:

Shorewood, undefeated (19-0) and ranked No. 1 in the state, defeated Glacier Peak 1-0 Thursday night at Shoreline Stadium to win the 3A District 1 championship and advance to the State 3A tournament that begins May 16. Dawda Dibba scored the game's only goal in the 59th minute for Shorewood. The T-Birds will host a State 3A first-round game vs. Chief Sealth of Seattle at 7:30 p.m. on May 16 at Shoreline Stadium. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors.

Shorecrest's Meera Limaye won the Wesco 3A sub-district singles title on Wednesday, while Francesca O"Malley and Daniella Brengelmann of Shorewood were second in doubles. Shorecrest won the league regular season title with a 15-1 match record, with Shorewood in second at 13-2.Β

Shorewood won the 3A Wesco League meet on Tuesday at Whidbey Golf and Country Club with 209 points under the modfied Stableford scoring system. Shorecrest was third with 197 points. Cassie McKinley of Shorewood was the medalist with 61 points.

Softball

Shorecrest will play Everett in the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament Tuesday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at Janicki Fields in Sedro-Wooley.
